A new selfie-related trend – breastfeeding – is meant to show the world that breastfeeding is natural, empowering and nothing that needs to be done behind closed doors. Celebrity mums like Gwen Stefani, who recently posted a breastfeeding selfie while nursing her son Apollo, are leading the charge. Gwen Stefani was holidaying with her family in Switzerland when duty called. Lucky for her, the Swiss alps was just a stone’s throw away and could enjoy this beautiful view while she breastfed five-month-old Apollo.
Jaime King makes breastfeeding look like a breeze in this sans-makeup Instagram selfie. She captioned it by saying “These are the moments a mother lives for” and that “breastfeeding should not be taboo.” Right you are, Jaime! Also, we’re not sure if that dog was placed there specifically for the shot but gosh, this picture is cuteness overload.
This Victoria’s Secret beauty never gets work get in the way of being a mum and vice versa. She tweeted a picture of her breastfeeding her baby boy Phyllon while on set in between takes (notice the hairpins?). “Working mom 
feeding my precious baby between pictures”. Keep being the flawless model and mother you are, Doutzen!
Truth, we had no idea Teresa Palmer recently had a baby until now. This Australian beauty keeps out of the radar and tabloids but doesn’t shy away when it comes to her son, Bodhi Rain Webber. She posted a collage on Instagram of her breastfeeding her son and having one on one time with mum-baby yoga and mentions she is seeing herself differently now because of motherhood. “My hands look different for they are soothing when I touch him, the crook of my elbow now is for his head to rest and my body feeds him whenever he needs.”
Natalia Vodianova caused quite a stir when she shared this on social media. Many accused of her of “sexualising breastfeeding” because of she’s posing nude and apparently “posing seductively”. We on the other hand, think this is a beautiful shot of her and is quite art-sy too. We’re guessing the general public get confused when somebody breastfeeds AND looks good while doing it too.
Never the one to be embarrassed easily, Pink says she has no qualms about nursing in public. However, she does have a few words for those who have a problem with it. She explains an incident while on Alan Carr’s UK talk show, “I had a Hooter Hider on and this guy walks by and was like ‘Uughhh.’ He was just disgusted. I was like ‘You didn’t get enough hugs when you were little.’ [My husband] Carey said ‘You are starting fights in restaurants?’ I said ‘I will… I will fight, hold my baby.’” You go, girl!
We saved the best for last because honestly, this looks like a campaign for breastfeeding and motherhood. Gisele Bundchen looked fabulous while on set for a shoot when she shared photo via Instagram. Having her makeup, hair and nails done while breastfeeding?! We feel this photo perfectly illustrates motherhood as multi-tasking is the key to keeping the house afloat. Albeit a tad more glamorous than an average mother, but accurate nonetheless.
